Slovenian elections part I- OR: Beating the turkish goverment
![]()
“”Next Sunday, on 21th of October 2007, we are going to have presidential elections. Third presidential elections in sovereign Slovenia. Here is part of the Slovenian constitution which regulates the powers of the president of Slovenia:
Article 107 (Powers of the President of the Republic)(1) The President of the Republic:
– calls elections to the National Assembly;
– promulgates laws;
– appoints state officials where provided by law;
– appoints and recalls ambassadors and envoys of the Republic, and accepts the letters of credence of foreign diplomatic representatives;
– issues instruments of ratification;
– decides on the granting of clemency;
– confers decorations and honorary titles;
– performs other duties determined by this Constitution.
(2) Where required by the National Assembly the President of the Republic must express his opinion on an individual issue.
Slovenian constitution, ICL (16.10.2007)
In compare with some other countries, president of the Republic of Slovenia does not have so many powers, his role is mostly representative.
Although official campain started on 20th of August 2007, first candidature announcements were made already half a year before (by Lojze Peterle, member of European Parliament and Zmago Jelinčič, member of Slovenian parliament and president of SNS). All together, fourteen people have announced to run a campaign for the president of the republic. Two candidates withdrew their candidature, five people didn’t manage to get enough signature of voters and finally, seven people were confirmed by the authorities as official candidates. Tomorrow I’m going to describe them all, with their advantages and disadvantages.
(This post is a description of Slovenian presidential elections and not propaganda for any of the candidates.)”"

I think it is important that irem can read this ONLINE (there’s always a way how to beat censorship )… I’m a real enimy of censorship, and no matter what it is about, you should be able to read it… I hope it can help you somehow, it’s some kind of little rebellion against the goverments…
[and unfortunately a proof that Tadej is not working for the CIA... :P] If my goverment would do this, I definitely would move… or do anything with the president. I didn’t know that Türkiye still was so religious, I think Atatürk made it really good with dividing church and state- I really hope they are not making steps back… btw, what do you actually think about Mr. Gül, irem?
I wanted to ask you that for a long time.
susi
PS: hopefully my blog won’t be a suspecting part of the internet for your goverment soon …
ohh, thanks for putting it in here
I guess you’ll keep doing this until i find a way to visit his forbidden page
What do i think about Mr.Gül… Hmm, if i tell my whole thoughts, even Austrian government forbids your blog
So let me tell in gentle words. Erdogan “chose” Gül to be president; cos Gül is Erdogan’s puppet. He doesn’t have his own thoughts. Our former president was modern; so Erdogan wasn’t free to sell all of our goverment companies or make us an islamic country like Iran. But now he’s free to do everything. Cos Gül signs whatever Erdogan sends.
arghhhh :@ I wish Turkish people were a little more clever!
-irem-
I will do that for sure, as long as i must
And I am sure you will find a way for that, there is always a way
I doubt that our goverment will forbid any page of me, as long there is nothing rassistic or NS- like inside it (and there never will be, so i am not afraid
)
Quite a silly stuff, that Gül was chosen, just because he will make it easer for the prime minister (I would call Erdogan like that, i have no better word for him, and i don’t know how you call him in turkish ;)). such things are not so easy in austria, because the president is not elected by the parliarment, but by the austrian folk. But i guess this is only because our president doesn’t have a real power…
Nothing would change if president was chosen by Turkish folk. Cos they already voted for Erdogan twice! This sunday there will be a voting here for how to chose president. By folk, or by parliment. I won’t vote, cos i’m not in Adana; but if i would, i’d vote for parliment. Cos people here -at least half of them- are idiots
I know, i am too honest
-irem-
No problem for that, at least 50 % of Austrians are idiots as well, because they vote for SPÖ (socialistic party of austria) or FPÖ (freedom party of Austria)- I would rather vote for communists! I think there are some people (like my dad) who vote for all parties- he does this, because he likes no one of the politicans. I also don’t like them mostly really, but I have the feeling there won’t come anything better, and so you simply have to choose what you get
Why can’t you vote when you are not in Adana? Students here can also vote when they are studying in their cities..
but irem, do you think that the parliament is any more clever than the people? There are also mostly 50% of idiots inside..
